this is the best drink ever created, but I think that the 2 ounces of lime is a bit excessive, I would just do 1. Also, be sure to use STRONG ginger beer- no canada dry for this bad boy. I love it with the original- cock and bull ginger beer, or something equally tasty.

Where to purchase Cock & Bull Ginger beer
By rpallante@earthlink.net

We have been drinking Moscow Mules for years. It is the first official drink of summer. However, for best results,it should be served in a true copper mug. Our dilemma now is where to purchase Cock & Bull Ginger Beer. Our local beverage stores supplier has gone out of business and he has tried everyone trying to find this for us. Can you help. We currently live 20 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio and will be relocating 50 miles northeast of Tampa, Florida in Lakeland. We would really like to take some with us if you could tell us where we might be able to purchase it and also, where in the Lakeland, FL. area it is available. Your immediate response to this urgent message would be most appreciated. Sincerely, Lenore Pallante

Awesome

This is easily one of, if not my all time favourite drink. It's great, tastes good, but gets you drunk fairly fast.

Patron Saint of all Mules!
By jcray140292@aol.com

Hi, Been drinking Mules for 20 years. Have had trouble finding the real Cock n Bull Ginger Beer, you know, the one in the little brown bottle with the red label! Have tried schwepts, stewarts, jamacian, goia and a dozen others. A friend even found some G.Beer in Cincinatti labeled Cock n Bull (Larger taller bottle, different look all together and different label) and if the taste were the same, my quest would be over. Howevere, whores of all whores, or is it horrors of all horrors?, definately not the same formula!!! Jamacian style G.Beer is too thick and sweet. There will never be a replacement for the original Cock n Bull. Have you had any luck?

I live in Iowa and have looked everywhere including Wisconsin and Chicago for ginger beer with no luck. I love this drink. As for those that are looking for the copper mugs I have 4 that my father in law found at Goodwill or the Salvation Army. No kidding paid 25cents for them. They were made by Smirnoff. I have also seen them listed on E-Bay for those who are still trying to locate copper mugs. Anyone with info about the Ginger Beer would be greatly appreciated.

Cock 'N Bull
By Justin Kendall

I'm new to the Mule, but enjoy it none the less. Found out how to make it on the back of a Cock 'N Bull Bottle. I'm in S.California, and found some at a local Ralph's supermaket. For those looking back East, it's just a branch of the Kroger chain. You might check there.

Ginger Beer and Copper Mugs
By JC Cannon

I'm an old codger and do love a good Mule now and then, the copper mug to me is essential and I have a bunch of them I've collected over the years. Ebay is a good source for the Mule Mugs, some are the real thing and others are knock-offs. The vodka can't really tell the difference though. As for ginger beer, it is so difficult to find that I devised a way to always have the makings on hand. I simple pulverize a 1/4 pound of ginger root in about a cup of vodka until it is quite fine. It is put into a jar and refrigerated. When we want a Moscow Mule we chill a couple of our mugs and use regular GINGER ALE with a spoonful of my ginger juice. It is superb. Often H. Salt Fish Restaurants carry good ginger beer if you don't have a blender, but that gets a tad pricey.

Where to buy Cock 'n' Bull
By Graig Kennaugh

I haven't had Cock 'n' Bull for years, but recently found it online at sodapopstop.com or popsoda.com; the shipping will kill you, but it's worth it.

Copper Mugs
By Dan B

06/15/05 I was able to pick up my copper mugs, 12 oz size, in Butte Montana. Butte was the location of the Anaconda Copper Mine Company. At one time the largest open pit copper mine in the world, the pit is more than one mile deep. Enough history, Butte had, nearly 20 years ago when I purchase mine, a large selection of copper novelty stores that carried a wide variety and styles of copper mugs. Butte is not a very hot tourist stop (sorry all you die hard MT Tech fans) and I can not validate that any of the stores remain. I have In-laws that will be traveling through Butte in late July. If response is strong enough, I may be able to persuade them to stop and look around. I last ordered (too many years ago) 5 cases of Cock-n-Bull Ginger Beer through the Made in Montana store in Helena, MT. The lady that owned the store searched high and low and cleaned out all the distributors she had contacts with. Sure do miss the days when you could go to the local grocery and stock up for the weekend. Lets keep that Mule Train a-rollin and good times for all.

If you can't find ginger beer...

A lot of package stores, especially the big ones, carry ginger beer these days so you should be able to find the stuff. if that fails and you're stuck with gingerale, you can goose the ginger flavor by infusing some vodka with the actual ginger root. needless to say you should do this beforehand: put maybe 2-3 cups vodka in your blender with a good 4 inches of ginger root (skin it and dice it first) then put it on liquify. Put the mixture in a jar and store in the fridge overnight and when the ginger particles have settle to the bottom slowly pour off the vodka on top. It'll be yellowy and slightly opaque, but that doesn't matter. then mix your drink - it should be a good deal stronger and the way it was originally intended to taste.

Take a Bahamanian Spin on it.....
By Cat

If you substitute a nice caribbean rum for the vodka and add a dash of bitters, you have a dark and stormy. I love the moscow mule, and this is a great recipe, but just thought I'd mention the alternative, since a mule lover is bound to enjoy the dark and stormy too.

dark rum

dark rum, i meant to say in the last review..... yuck, stay away from the white stuff other than vodka.

Cock N Bull
By Jbro

I have been touting this brand for years. My wife and I had a running bet on the sex of our baby for a case of this stuff, we still have the last bottle in the back of the fridge. I recently found Bristol Farms, a high end super market hewr in southern california still sells it $1.50 a bottle. Paradise reborn!
