Pina coladas are even better when you mix them up a little bit. I use Captain Morgan's spice rum and float a shot of Chambord on top. I call it a Maui sunrise.
Smooth & Creamy Pina Colada
By Deidre
I generally use Goya Pina Colada Mixes rather than Coconut Milk. This is how I make my Pina Coladas and you can ask any of my friends, it's been a hit at all of my gatherings.
Put 2-3 cups of ice in blender, then put in goya mix (the whole can), 1/4 can of crushed pineapple with 2-3 shots of Bacardi white rum and crush/mix together. To make it smooth & creamy I put in 1 1/2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and blend all together. Strain and pour or pour as is. It is sooooo good.
Delicious. Just good to have with a meal at a restaurant.
for a little twist...
Add some kahlua to the drink. Mmmm, very nice.
just plain bacardi
By lj
i just like it with bacardi light-dry rum and bacardi pina colada mix (frozen) all you need then is a can of del monte or some good name brand pinapple in a can and some ice... real sweet for those who love tooth decay and are real lazy plus don't know what produce fruit is.. LOL! cheap too. just around 20 bucks.
real thing, simple, good
By el jay
bacardi light-dry... coconut and pinapple.. slice up, chop up throw some of the bulk and pulp into the juice man jr. (or another juicer that removes pulp) and juice.. then take the rest of the pulp and toss that into the mix... then pour in the juiced coconut and pineapple.. and ice. natural, simple. great for the colon also, much fiber! sweet but not that processed sweet. (measure and do as you wish otherwise...)

Sweet as a virgin
By Ice Queen
I don't like to taste alcohol in my froufrou drinks, so I'll ask for Pina Coladas to be made with coconut rum.
pina coladas..oh yeah
By sinnabunny in MD
i love a pina colada...i start off with a pina colada mix and then.. use parrot bay coconut rum and a spalsh of light rum and on the fourth of july i have been known to add a bit of blue curcao. i plan on doing that this fourth as well.
Lava Flow
Make your pina colada however you want.Take a big spoonful (since hopefully your drinking from a tall glass) of frozen strawberries that's been thawed and mushed up, and spoon it in, but not mixing. Hence, the appearance of "lava" flowing around in your glass. Drank lot's of these sitting on the beach in Maui!

Add 1/2 a banana to the basic Colada recipe and run it all through the blender. Smoother, lighter, and just a touch sweeter.
OK,OK,OK,

Less Watered Down
By Lorna
Instead of adding ice, I tray-freeze the pineapple and the coconut milk and then use the rum as the liquid for the blender. I also add banana and a bit of OJ concentrate. You need a lot more fruit, but its worth it!
Jamacian style
By Phil
I make my Pina Coladas like I had in Jamacia, cream of coconut, crushed pineapple, shot of 80proof CocoMania Rum, shot of Appleton V/X rum, splash of overproof rum, blend, float a splash of dark rum on top.
If you can't get CocoMania Rum(I think its only sold in Jamacia, which is where I got my bottles), use 1/2 shot of Parrot Bay and 1/2 shot of white rum.
